Creatively Integrate iPad Math & Presentation Apps, CCSS, & Questioning Techniques Into Math Classes

Participants will see how to merge these essential instructional methods for student success. Take photos with your iPad and immediately model the curves with an equation or a geometric figure – on your iPad! Obtain and “play” over 1000 FREE interactive classroom ready activities – including teacher notes and solutions for grades 6 – 12, many of these align with the Common Core State Standards. Each student is engaged and working at his/her own pace on such tough-to-teach-and-learn topics as: domain and range, sum of infinite geometric series, the unit circle, investigate slope interactively, area formulas, and many more. Participants will learn how to cleverly utilize these apps: Reflector, Splashtop, Dropbox, and TI-Nspire. All five of these – Graph, Calculate, Geometry, Spreadsheets, Data & Statistics – work together in concert with TI-Nspire. Reflector allows the user how to wirelessly project what is on the iPad screen to the class. Splashtop allows the user to use the iPad as a wireless mouse and control any program on the desktop computer remotely. Access activities directly from your Dropbox and interact with them immediately. The presenter will also emulate skillful questioning techniques and strategies that are endorsed by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Participants can see how these questioning techniques work within the presentation. All 8 of the CCSS Math Practices will be addressed and illustrated with the examples and problems that we do during this session. Participants will be given access to all activities and ideas presented. Everything is shared!
