iPads and AP, IB, and Dual Credit: How They Lived Happily Ever After Together

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Maybe your school is talking about getting iPads, or maybe they have already arrived. For many teachers, especially of advanced courses, the iPads seem like just “toys”. And “who has time for those toys, when we’ve got REAL curriculum to cover?” The demands for rigorous curriculum are constantly increasing. Common core and teacher evaluation processes, as well as state and nationally mandated tests all impress on us a need for challenging, relevant curriculum. How is a teacher to address all of these needs and encourage responsible use of technology that also is demanding of students? If you are looking for answers to that question, this session is for you.

Presenters in this session will demonstrate apps and strategies for moving the iPads from toys to tools, especially addressing the need for rigor and relevance in the classroom. Learn new strategies for using e-books to enhance comprehension and analysis. See how word clouds can be used to evaluate online sources. Preview Learning Management Systems and learn the benefits of each. This session will be jam packed with practical ideas for using iPads as another tool in the teacher toolbox. Participants in this session can expect to leave with practical ideas and resources they can take home and try out in their own classrooms, or share with their teachers immediately following this session.
