Global Connections with iTunes U

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Through the use of iTunes U, learners can be empowered to educate others through innovative lessons. See how a course in iTunes U gained over 70,000 subscribers in less than 5 months and connected a high school science class in Texas to Nigeria, New Zealand, Chicago, and a nursing school in South America. Beginning in the fall of 2013, learners in my class are developing a free, online open course in Health and Nutrition that includes learner developed tutorials, inquiry based science labs, useful apps, review resources and a chance to Skype with our class for a Q&A at the conclusion of the lesson. Participants will also be invited to run simultaneous science experiments and compile worldwide data into a shared spreadsheet to see how mass collection of data improves scientific reliability. Learn how to empower your students to connect globally and share.

Questions that session would address:

How can educators connect to classrooms across the world and allow students to learn from each other?

How can classes be set up in a way that encourages learner ownership in the course?

How does using open educational resources encourage creativity and innovation?
