The 10 Essentials of the iPad Classroom

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Most expeditions, like most lesson plans, begin with an end in mind. However, what turns does a journey take when the destination has not previously existed? What skills do we need when the end is undefined? We are all on this journey right now as we bring iPads into our classrooms.

In the 1930's a Seattle group called The Mountaineers compiled a list of 10 Essentials for surviving in the wilderness. What should we pack for our collective adventure into an era of iPads and mobile devices? In a mobile classroom, we need to acquire a different set of 10 Essentials: communication, collaboration, citizenship, inquiry, mobility, fluency, questioning, curation, creation, and connection. This session will offer up suggestions, strategies, and ideas for how to start packing.
