EdTechTeacher iPad Summit- Boston 2013

Mobile technology is breaking the mold of teacher-student dynamics in the classroom. A teacher does not have to teach from the front of the classroom. There isn’t even a need for a “front” anymore. Students can share work with the class or classmates with a flick of their finger. A huge array of resources and tools fit into a device that weighs only a couple pounds and takes up no more space than a composition book. Students want to move and learn - not just sit still, lecture style. How do you redesign a classroom to take advantage of the opportunities mobility offers and tap into some of those essential skills everyone is talking about? This presentation describes the HillbrookiLab project, an experimental agile classroom, its expansion into other spaces at Hillbrook, and the continuation of research that asks the question: how does an agile classroom affect teaching and learning.
