Successful iPad Pilot to Schoolwide Deployment: Student Survey Perspectives

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

As a tech director implementing change and moving our community to a 1 to 1 computing environment I‘m always asked “How do I measure the success of my programs?” Well I start my measuring the impact of the iPad on teaching & learning. The assessment of Thayer student perceptions on learning and engagement is observational and functional. Student reactions were measured using a survey to rate their learning & engagement. Other findings are classroom observations. Our research is applicable for iPad deployment at Thayer Academy.

There are many questions that define our assessment project. Would the iPad enhance student learning? Did the iPad change the educational dynamics of the classroom? Does the iPad support the student’s creativity & innovation? Did the iPad support collaborative learning thru social media? Are students’ self-directed learners after the iPad program? Did the iPad help them learn using different styles: visual, auditory or kinesthetic?

In our talk we will discuss the student survey, discover student experiences with the iPad and present student observations. You will walk away with the students’ perception on how the iPad has enhanced learning at Thayer Academy.
