It is widely accepted that iPads provide access to learning activities and materials for any learner with a specialized learning difference. Yet as exceptional as these devicesk are for students with learning challenges, the iPad is so much more. It is a game-changer. With effective integration by educational staff, the iPad can make it possible for all learners to engage in lessons, demonstrate their understanding and give each student a chance to excel in the classroom. Based in the fundamental tenets of Universal Design for Learning and best practices, this presentation will highlight device and app features and demonstrate alternatives. Topics discussed include content creation, innovative ways to offer support and scaffolding, strategies to enhance students’ organization and study skills, and possibilities that give students choice in the assessment process. Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with other participants. Although a working knowledge of the universal access features of the iPad is beneficial, all levels of iPad users will benefit.
